Ever go on a business trip and leave your files on your office PCs hard drive? Those who need file storage that can be accessed from the Internet via a Web browser should take a look at xdrive.com.

Xdrive, an Internet-based file storage and collaboration tool, allows registered users to store 75MB to multiple gigabytes of data on the Internet. There are two types of accounts: Xdrive Plus, for single users, and Xdrive WorkGroup, for businesses.

Xdrive Plus is priced starting at $4.95 per month for 75MB of capacity, and users can add storage in increments of 75MB, 150MB, 500MB or 1GB. Xdrive WorkGroup starts at $99 per month for 25 users with 1.875GB of total storage.

When I tested Xdrive Plus with 75MB of storage, I could easily upload, download and share data files using the simple Web browser interface. The connection is secured via SSL over Secure HTTP, which is adequate for all but the most sensitive data.

After downloading and installing the Xdrive Plus desktop software, I could access my Xdrive account just like a local hard drive.
