WiredRed Reliable but Expensive
WiredRed Software has created an alternative to expensive, unpredictable Web conferencing services with its more predictable E/pop Web Conferencing software. Its just that the price for E/pop Web Conferencing is too high for small companies.
Web conferencing services such as WebExs Meeting Center and Microsofts Live Meeting can become costly when companies exceed their allotted attendee numbers, and attendees routinely have difficulty joining conferences because links change. Prices start at $2,000 per user for five concurrent users, but E/pop can cost as little as $24 per named user for a 1,000-user license.
I think the product could work well for small businesses looking for a simple tool to connect with customers on the fly.
I liked the simplicity of E/pop Web Conferencing, but sometimes the product could be too simple.
All meetings appear in a list on a single home page; presenters and attendees just need to reach a server via a domain name or an IP address. A more robust meeting management interface will be available this month. This makes it much easier to host ad hoc meetings than with hosted presentation services and to join a meeting, but it also makes it easy for competitors to snoop.
As for presenting, E/pop Web Conferencing covers the basics, with support for PowerPoint presentations, application and desktop sharing, chat, and multi-party audio and videoconferencing.
