IBM Corp.s Rational division on Tuesday is expected to announce a new version of the IBM Rational Rapid Developer.
The IBM Rational Rapid Developer Release 2 is an architected rapid application development environment that provides portal-creation capabilities and integration with legacy systems, the company said. IBMs Rational division is based in Lexington, Mass.
IBM officials said the new version of its Rapid Developer features a model-driven development scheme for rapid portlet development and deployment on the IBM WebSphere Portal environment.
This indicates further integration between IBMs key middleware technology and the Rational technology IBM acquired when the systems giant bought Rational Software Corp. last February, IBM officials said.
In addition, the Rational Rapid Developer features service-oriented development through support of the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA), the company said. Developers can use the tool to create applications for the Web, wireless and portal environments and tie them to backend legacy systems, IBM said.
The product will be available immediately for $6,595 per license.
