Two of Epson’s latest enterprise document scanners have been certified for use with content management applications from Digitech Systems, adding additional scanner choices for businesses that are looking to manage their growing collections of paper files.

The certifications for the color document scanners, the Epson WorkForce DS-770 and the DS 575W Wireless models, were announced by the companies on March 20 and expand a partnership that provides specialized document scanning applications that can be paired seamlessly with established scanning hardware for customers. The Epson-Digitech combination aims to help enterprises securely manage their business-critical data.

Through the certifications, Epson scanners gain advanced indexing capabilities when used with Digitech’s PaperVision Capture application and can directly upload scanned documents to Digitech’s PaperVision Enterprise application. The certifications also mean that customers gain direct access to Digitech’s ImageSilo cloud electronic content management services and the company’s artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled classification and data extraction tool, PaperVision Forms Magic. All four applications aim to help customers eliminate manual data entry from paper files.

Mark Pickard, Epson’s scanner product manager, told eWEEK that the certification of the two document scanners expands Epson’s range of scanners that are fully integrated with Digitech’s applications.

The Epson DS-770 and the DS-575W Wireless scanners join the company’s DS320, DS530 and DS860 scanners in supporting the Digitech software, Pickard said. The certifications mean that the scanners are fully compatible with the Digitech applications that customers are already using to scan and save documents, he said.

By using the related Digitech applications, enterprise workers can access scanned documents securely through any device any time and from anywhere, according to the companies. Business processes including accounts payable and human resources can be automated by sending scanned data to other business applications and automating the flow of documents through review and approval processes, which can help streamline business operations.

The Epson DS-770 and DS-575W document scanners offer scanning speeds of up to 35 pages per minute (ppm) and 70 images per minute (ipm) to 45 ppm and 90 ipm, respectively, while scanning up to 4,000 (DS-770) and 5,000 (DS-575W) sheets per day. Both scanners include TWAIN and ISIS drivers for integration with existing third-party document management software. The DS-575W also includes wireless capabilities for scanning to smartphones, tablets, computers or online storage accounts.

“Though digitization is a strategic priority, many companies still use some combination of electronic files and paper records to inform business processes,” Sean Morris, sales director for Digitech Systems, said in a statement. “The expanded partnership between Digitech Systems and Epson scanners will help companies better manage all their information. We’re excited to offer more options to resellers who help companies solve data management challenges.”
