    And the Winners of Best of CeBIT America Are…

      Hundreds entered eWEEK/PC Magazine Best of Show Awards for CeBIT America, but these winners and finalists stand head and shoulders above the rest.

      CeBIT America, PC Magazine, and eWEEK announced this afternoon the winners of this years eWEEK/PC Magazine Best of Show Awards for CeBIT America. The awards select outstanding products and technologies from show-floor participants.

      “These products represent a broad cross section of products and capabilities that impact everyone from the small business user up to the enterprise. Each impressed the editors of PC Magazine and eWEEK with their new and innovative approaches to the high-tech needs and desires of the computing marketplace,” said Michael J. Miller, PC Magazines editor-in-chief and Editorial Director of Ziff Davis Media.

      In order to be considered for these awards, products had to be displayed at the show (on the show floor or in a public meeting room) and had to be newly available between February 1st and October 31st of this year.

      Here are the winners and finalists in each category, followed by the overall Best of Show award winner.

      Best of Show
      Winner: NEC Express5800/320LB high availability fault-tolerant server

      NEC adapted high-end, proprietary, fault tolerant technology to Windows/Intel architecture. They worked with Intel to modify CPU design and Microsoft to adapt Windows OS. The result? Technology that was $250,000 just one year ago is now $26,000. The Express 5800/320 LB offers data and application integrity, remote serviceability, and is completely modular, including the CPU, storage, PCI boards and power supplies. Each can be removed or replaced like a toner cartridge without bringing down the server.
