SPSS Inc. and WebSideStory Inc. are both announcing new products designed to help customers make better use of their Web channels and integrate them with other marketing channels.

SPSS will announce Wednesday the general availability of the latest version of its Web analytics application, Net Genesis 6, while WebSideStory announced Tuesday a new integration offering as part of its HitBox Web analytics service.

SPSS is targeting NetGenesis 6 toward large enterprises with complex Web channels, according to officials of the Chicago-based company.

The data importer in this release has been redesigned for improved performance, including better utilization of underlying hardware, decreased processing time for data, and better handling of multiple small imports, SPSS officials said.

Reports also run faster in this release, thanks to tuning and new aggregates for complex reports like clickstreams. NetGenesis 6 supports the page dotting data collection technique, in addition to Web server log files, network packet sniffers and Web server plug-ins.

This version includes new improvements to user identification algorithms to allow businesses to identify customers as they transition from “anonymous” to “cookied” status during the course of their lifecycle.

Other new features include a more user-friendly reporting interface, guided report creation, deeper analysis of streaming media log files and automated system maintenance.

WebSideStory meanwhile launched HitBox Business Integration services, which allows clients to transfer Web analytics data to the HitBox hosted data warehouse, so that that information can be merged with data from other applications such as customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and business intelligence (BI).

The merged information would allow customers to get a broader view of marketing effectiveness across multiple channels, WebSideStory officials in San Diego said.

HitBox Business Integration services include HitBox DataFeed, which transfers Web visitor and customer data into other enterprise applications via XML; HitBox DataFeed Plus, which transfers session-level Web visitor and customer data for individual user identification; and Web Log Migration, which incorporates data from Web log file software or outsourced service providers into the HitBox data warehouse

HitBox DataFeed is priced at a one-time fee of $9,600. HitBox DataFeed Plus starts at $9,600 and scales up based on page views. Web Log Migration starts at $5,000 and scales up based on data volume.

Pricing for SPSS NetGenesis 6.0 starts at $80,000.
