David Rocci, the Xbox mod-chip salesman made famous by the governments occupation of his isonews.com website, was sentenced to five months in prison and assessed a $28,500 fine last week.
He is thus one of the first people to be jailed for violations of the 1999 Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which makes trafficking in devices intended to aid in copyright violation — such as chips that circumvent the anti-piracy measures in game consoles — a crime.
Rocci pled guilty late last year to selling around 450 Enigmah Xbox chips through the site.
