As many Mozilla users know, the Mozilla Organization states that the open-source browser is a developers tool, not an end-user application. Because of this, several side projects are under way to create end-user browsers that employ Mozillas Gecko browser engine.
One that recently underwent a name change is the Camino browser (formerly Chimera). Camino, which is still in beta, is an end-user implementation of Mozilla for Mac OS X.
By design, Camino is leaner and more user-friendly than Mozilla, lacking many Mozilla features, such as a mail client or an editor, but retaining pop-up ad blocking and other important tools. Camino compares favorably to Apple Computer Inc.s Safari browser and includes useful features, such as tabbed browsing, that are not part of Safari.
