Collaboration software developer eRoom Technology Inc. will announce Monday the next version of its hosted service, eRoom.net 6.0, promising mostly ease-of-use improvements.
The hosted service offers similar technology and interface as the licensed version of the digital workspace software. Improvements in this version include easier and better integrated business process and approval management and a cleaner interface. The log-in process has also been streamlined and made more intuitive, eRoom officials in Cambridge, Mass. said.
The hosted service currently accounts for about 10 percent of eRooms revenues, company officials said. Many customers try the service before upgrading to the licensed version. Subscriptions to eRoom.net cost $300 per month for from three-to-10 users, $725 a month for 11-to-40 users and $1,200 per month for up to 100 users.
Customers get a 25 percent price break across the board if they sign up for at least six months.
While eRoom is introducing a new version of its hosted service, PlaceWare Inc. announced Tuesday an on-site version of its Web meeting and collaboration service known as the PlaceWare Conference Center On-Site Solution.
The new offering is a hardware, software and maintenance bundle with the same features as PlaceWares hosted service. Hardware includes the server, as well as telephony, storage and networking components. While eRoom is designed more for ongoing projects, PlaceWare is used more for one-time meetings and conferences.
Company officials in Mountain View, Calif., said the managed services offering is designed for companies who are required by corporate policies to keep their Web conferencing services on premise.
PlaceWare will provision, install, maintain and upgrade the On-Site Solution, which is available now, at the customer site. Pricing varies by installation requirements.
