    SAP Portals Piles On Partners

SAP Portals Inc. on Thursday announced it had signed up no fewer than 10 partners to work with when adding new technology and content to its software solutions.

These partners are working essentially as sales and marketing channels to establish the San Jose, Calif., companys Enterprise Portal and Business Intelligence platforms in the growing portals market.

The enterprise portal unifies enterprise applications and systems from inside and outside the enterprise with a single portal interface. SAP Portals plans to offer this technology to its new partners who then can develop software solutions and find implementation partners.

The new partners include Ascential Software Corp., Aspect Communications Corp., BackWeb Technologies Ltd., Business Objects, Crystal Decisions, Documentum Inc., eRoom Technology Inc., FileTek Inc., Interwoven Inc., Netegrity Inc., Stellent Inc., WebEx Communications Inc., webMethods Inc. and YellowBrix.

The new partnerships further develop existing relationships that SAP Portals, a subsidiary of SAP AG, has built over the past year with Baan, Compaq Computer Corp., Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc., according to SAP officials.

SAP Portals also already has alliances with Accenture Ltd. and Pricewaterhouse Coopers Consulting, as well as smaller systems integrators Experio Solutions, Idea Integration, Logical Design Solutions Inc and Plaut Consulting Inc.

The company announced an additional partnership Thursday with systems integrator Cap Gemini Ernst & Young today.

Another SAP subsidiary, SAP Markets, also has a partner program that is on a parallel track with that of SAP Portals – a necessity since the two subsidiaries are set to merge into one company.

The new company, as yet unnamed, will be chartered with the task of creating integration technologies and collaborative applications through the mySAP Technology platform announced by SAP AG last fall.

That technology brings together three elements for conducting B2B electronic transactions using a single platform: SAPs portal technology, its exchange integration technology developed with Commerce One Inc. and a combined J2 Enterprise Edition and ABAP application server.

The new subsidiary will have the charter of licensing mySAP Technology to SAP as well as to other companies for distribution with third-party software offerings, according to officials.
