The San Jose, Calif., company is releasing three upgraded Layer 3 modular switches to complement its FastIron system. The switches, the FastIron 400, 800 and 1500, built with a new JetCore application-specific integrated circuit chip set, are slated to offer unparalleled port density, availability and scalability. They include support for jumbo frames, improved quality of service and multicast capabilities.
With a variety of JetCore-based management and interface modules, the systems can nearly double port density to 672 10/ 100M-bps ports, or 232 Gigabit ports, in a modular system using 17-rack units.
Pricing for the FastIron 400 chassis starts at $3,995, the 800 chassis at $7,995 and the 1500 chassis at $11,995. Pricing varies based on configuration.
