SAP Thinks Private
SAP has announced a new strategy focused on development and support of private exchanges through its SAPMarkets subsidiary. The German software company says it will provide software and integration services to help companies deploy private exchanges for their suppliers and partners. Separately, SAP and partner Commerce One recently rolled out software aimed at letting companies use the same information in different processes, such as procurement or product design.
Entrust Names CEO
Struggling software security firm Entrust Technologies has named F. William Conner its president and CEO. Conner, formerly president of eBusiness Solutions at Nortel Networks — Entrusts largest shareholder — replaces former CEO John Ryan, who resigned abruptly in February. Entrust, known primarily for its public key encryption products, wants to focus more on access management software.

Two marketplace firms that serve the beverage industry have decided to merge their efforts. ESkye Solutions of Indianapolis and BevAccess of New York City say they will create a single national platform to serve the industry. The combined entity will be active in 40 states.
B2e Gets DoughReMe
B2eMarkets, which provides a strategic sourcing application with built-in negotiating tools, is traveling in rare company. The firm has secured $38 million in venture financing from a group led by CIBC Capital Partners. Other investors include Accenture Technology Ventures, Ascend Venture Group, Carthage Partners, FBR Technology Venture Partners and Syndicated Communications.
