GitHub on Jan. 7 announced two major updates to make its online open-source code service more accessible to developers: unlimited free private repositories and a simplified, unified enterprise offering.
GitHub Free now includes unlimited private repositories, where developers can use GitHub for their private projects with up to three collaborators per repository for free. Public repositories are still free and include unlimited collaborators.
GitHub Enterprise is the new unified product for Enterprise Cloud and Enterprise Server. Organizations that want the flexibility to use GitHub in a cloud or self-hosted configuration can now access both at one per-seat price.
With GitHub Connect, these products can be securely linked, providing a hybrid option so developers can work seamlessly across both environments. GitHub Pro and GitHub Team are also available for developers and teams that need professional coding and collaboration features.

Serverless, also referred to as functions-as-a-service, is technology that enables organizations to run functions in an event-driven approach, rather than requiring a long running persistent server.

According to Tal Melamed, head of security research at Protego Labs, “[DVSA] is an attempt to be a realistic serverless deployment, and it interacts with various cloud resources, including databases, that are typical for a serverless application.”
