The open-source OpenSSL Project has issued a series of updates, providing seven security fixes for new flaws. These are the largest updates since the project was at the center of the original Heartbleed security alert in early April when the group fixed only one vulnerability.

The Internet Storm Center ranked two of the newly patched flaws as critical. The first, CVE-2014-0224, is an SSL man-in-the-middle vulnerability that may have a sweeping impact. The second is CVE-2014-0195, which is a Datagram Transport Layer Security invalid fragment vulnerability, first reported to the project on April 23.

Juniper Networks and Aruba Networks plan to integrate their respective technologies to offer organizations converged wired and wireless networking infrastructures. The partnership will focus on joint development of technologies as well as go-to-market efforts to get those products to customers.

This partnership is similar to agreements Aruba reached last year with other networking vendors, including Brocade and Alcatel-Lucent. As for Juniper, the company will now have another wireless networking option to offer customers.

The $2.3 billion acquisition of IBM’s low-end x86 server business by Lenovo could take longer than expected due to an ongoing security review by U.S. regulators. The companies requested more time for the security review by the Committee on Foreign Investments in the U.S.

This will give Lenovo and IBM additional time to gain the approval they need to move the deal forward. CFIUS is a governmental interagency group that reviews the acquisitions of domestic companies by foreign entities for national security purposes.

Companies that create and acquire intellectual property have to filter through everything, pick the right components and test them all to make sure they’re working together. They have to do all of this without crashing and make them airtight before going to market. Now, SAP has completed that process with its HANA in-memory database.

At the company’s Sapphire NOW 2014 conference SAP announced that it is now offering SAP HANA Service Pack 8 as the basis of a new platform—powered by VMware. It includes mobile, analytics, data services and cloud integration services that will be provided through open-standard user interfaces.
