      7 Cyber-Security Vendors That Raised Funding in August 2017

      2017 so far has seen a steady flow of cyber-security startups emerge with new funding, and August, though slower than other months, was no exception. Multiple cyber-security vendors raised new funding rounds to support and grow their technology and go-to-market efforts. The two big areas for funding in August were artificial intelligence (AI)-powered threat hunting and internet of things (IoT) security startups. Among the vendors that raised money for AI-driven technologies were Respond Software, which brought in $12 million, and Versive, which raised $12.7 million.       On Aug. 1, Guardicore announced it had raised an additional $15 million to extend its Series B funding round to a total of $35 million. Guardicore’s core offering, the Centra Security Platform, provides data center and cloud workload security capabilities.

      BlueteamGlobal Secures $125 Million

      On Aug.3, BlueteamGlobal announced its launch along with $125 million in funding. The new cyber-security firm is a merger of security firms BitVoyant, K2G and K2 Cyber Defense, and provides threat intelligence and managed cyber-security services.

      4MagicCube Secures $8.5 Million for IoT Security

      MagicCube Secures $8.5 Million for IoT Security

      On Aug. 8, MagicCube announced its $8.5 million Series A funding round. The company’s core technology is the software Trusted Execution Environment (sTEE), which provides security for internet of things devices.

      Dragos Secures $10 Million to Improve ICS Security

      On Aug.14, security startup Dragos announced it had raised $10 million in Series A venture capital. Dragos is focused on providing security services and technology that protect industrial control systems.

      Respond Software Raises $12 Million

      Respond Software emerged from stealth mode Aug.16 after raising $12 million in a Series A funding. The company’s core technology, the Respond Analyst Platform, provides machine learning-powered data analysis to help organizations rank and prioritize alerts.

      7ZingBox Raises $22 Million for IoT Security

      ZingBox Raises $22 Million for IoT Security

      On Aug.17, IoT security startup ZingBox announced its Series B round of funding, bringing in $22 million. The company’s core platform, ZingBox IoT Guardian, uses machine learning to help identify anomalous IoT device activities.

      Versive Raises $12.7 Million for Threat Detection

      Security vendor Versive announced Aug.22 it had raised $12.7 million in new funding to help grow its artificial intelligence cyber-security capabilities.
