10 Top Smartwatches to Check Out This Holiday Season

There are a number of outstanding smartwatches available this holiday season with a variety of features sure to catch consumers’ eyes.

2Apple Watch Is Still the Market Leader

Apple Watch Is Still the Market Leader

The Apple Watch is the obvious choice here, considering it’s the market’s leader and among the better devices available. The smartwatch runs a variant of iOS and has several high-quality apps that work for both consumers and enterprise users. Couple that with a great design, more feature options than most other devices and pricing that covers most market segments, and the Apple Watch will likely be popular with tech gadget buyers during the 2016 holiday season.

3Pebble Time Round Delivers Some E-Paper

Pebble Time Round Delivers Some E-Paper

The Pebble Time Round is one of several nice products offered by the startup. Unlike many of the competitors in this roundup, the Pebble Time Round comes with an e-paper display that makes it easier to read in direct sunlight. The Pebble Time Round features a round screen (obviously) and offers quick charging that provides a full day of battery life in just 15 minutes. Not bad. Image 2: Please use this image:

TAG Heuer is a well-known watchmaker, but has now joined the smartwatch market with its TAG Heuer Connected. The device, which runs on Android Wear, has a round screen and comes with the familiar TAG Heuer face. According to the company, the device is water-resistant and comes with a 1.6GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of memory. All in all, it’s a solid first showing from a company not known for its tech.

5Pebble Time Steel Delivers a Slightly Different Experience

Pebble Time Steel Delivers a Slightly Different Experience

For Pebble customers who want a slightly more elegant experience and a rectangular screen, the company offers the Pebble Time Steel. The Steel is a bit more stylish than the Pebble Time Round, but still supports the same e-paper display. In addition, the device works with both Android-based smartphones and the iPhone, and a full charge will last for 10 days.

      6Check Out the Second-Generation Moto 360

It’s back to round displays with the device that popularized them in the smartwatch industry: the Motorola Moto 360. The smartwatch, which runs on Google’s Android Wear, features several new faces that make the device look more like a real watch. Inside, the smartwatch comes with WiFi compatibility, allowing it to work regardless of whether a connected phone is near. It also offers more than 24 hours of battery life and full fitness tracking features.

Asus is offering another Android Wear-based smartwatch in the ZenWatch 2. The device is wide at up to 49mm and can last for 24 hours on a single charge. The watch runs on the Qualcomm APQ 8026 processor and has 4GB of onboard storage. One other important feature: Its display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.

8See the Time With LG Watch Urbane

See the Time With LG Watch Urbane

The LG Watch Urbane is among the more stylish devices in this roundup. The Android Wear-based smartwatch comes with several customizable faces that make it feel like the real thing. LG has boosted its luxury appeal by offering both gold and silver versions, and its high-definition OLED watch face makes it easy to see text and color. The Watch Urbane also boasts offline music playback, thanks to its onboard storage, and includes dust- and water-resistant technology.

      9China’s Huawei Offers the Watch

      China's Huawei Offers the Watch

Huawei has become a big name in smartphones, and it’s now trying to extend that to smartwatches. The company’s offering, dubbed Watch, has a round AMOLED display measuring 1.4 inches. The smartwatch is stainless steel and, unlike many of the options in this roundup, has a sapphire display making it “scratch-proof,” according to Huawei. Like several other smartwatches in this roundup, the Huawei Watch is based on Android Wear. It comes with a whopping 40 built-in watch faces.

      10Sony’s Third-Generation SmartWatch 3 Is Rugged

      Sony's Third-Generation SmartWatch 3 Is Rugged

Sony is no stranger to the smartwatch industry. In fact, it was one of the first companies to move into the space. Its SmartWatch 3 is among its most prominent offerings, featuring a rectangular screen. The Android Wear device comes with built-in WiFi, so users can run apps wherever a signal is available, and it has myriad sensors, including GPS and an accelerometer. It also includes a feature called Sony Lifelog, which tracks the user’s activities and provides valuable insight into how they spend their days.

11Samsung’s Gear S2 Runs the Tizen OS

Samsung's Gear S2 Runs the Tizen OS

The Gear S2 runs Samsung’s Tizen operating system, which is Linux-based, as an alternative to Android Wear and iOS. However, the Gear S2 is compatible with “most” Android devices running Android 4.4 or later. This smartwatch with its round bezel features a 1.2-inch screen, 302 pixels per inch for added screen quality and 4GB of internal storage.
