How Facebook Is Personalizing Notifications Tab in Mobile App

Users can get more information quickly using the improved notifications tab in the mobile app. The enhanced notifications tab will feature personalized updates.

In an effort to make the notifications tab more useful, Facebook is rolling out an improved version that will let users find more of the information they are looking for in one easy-to-manage place. Information is being grouped and can be sorted through with finger swipes.

When the updated notifications tab is rolled out to users, they will be able to get improved notices about upcoming events they’ve joined on Facebook and about other events coming up in their local communities.

The updated “nearby places” section of the notification tab will present users with lists of nearby restaurants they can visit, including links to the Facebook pages and reviews of the establishments.

Now users will have a dedicated place in the notifications tab where they can read all about the new movies that are playing in their area, including reviews, film and cast details, as well as movie times and theater locations.

In the updated birthdays notifications, users will be able to quickly find listings for the birthdays of friends and family members so they can send them greetings and accolades on their special days. Also trackable are the upcoming events in the lives of friends and family.

News happens all the time, and the integrated “trending” section of the expanded notifications tab will provide a place for users to stay up-to-date with what is happening in the world each day, with constant updates and details.

Also included in the expanded Facebook app notifications are easy-to-scroll sections for sports scores and alerts for television shows that are coming up, based on Facebook Pages that have been “liked” by users. Weather updates, including current conditions and severe weather alerts, will also be displayed.
