Surface Pro 4, Surface Book Headline Microsoft’s Windows 10 Event

Just in time for the holidays, Microsoft is offering new 1TB Xbox One bundles based on hit game series, including Tomb RaiderI, LEGO, Fallout and Halo. Next month, Xbox One will be upgraded to Windows 10, enabling backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games and a host of enhancements.

Microsoft will ship a developer version of HoloLens, the company’s augmented reality headset, during the first quarter of 2016. Expect to pay $3,000 to be among the first to take it for a spin.

Microsoft’s rumored 5.2-inch Lumia 950 and 5.7-inch 950 XL high-end smartphones—both with vibrant OLED displays—made their official debut. Using a compact hub and Windows 10’s Continuum mode-switching technology, the handsets can provide a full-featured desktop experience for Office users.

Although not as impressive as the 950s, the low-priced, 4.7-inch Lumia 550 ($139) packs a lot functionality into a budget phone.

Microsoft is going after fitness buffs with a sleeker, more powerful Band health-monitoring wearable that is improved in practically every way compared with its predecessor.

It’s like the Surface Pro 3, but faster, thinner, lighter and with a bigger screen, along with improved Type Covers and a more precise Surface Pen. In short, more of what made the Pro 3 a hit.

Microsoft surprised those gathered for the Oct. 6 event by unveiling the 13.5-inch Surface Book two-in-one. Will the Surface Pro’s success rub off on the company’s first laptop?
