From Cyber-Attacks to DevOps: Security Experts Cover Mix of Topics

In the exhibitor hall at SecTor 2014, there was a Capture the Flag contest, engaging participating teams with solving security challenges.

SecTor isn’t just about digital security; it also provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about physical security in the Lockpick Village.

Many of the world’s leading security vendors were present, including Cisco, Symantec and Trustwave, among others. Security vendor eSentire brought out an inflatable elephant in its booth to signify the metaphorical “elephant in the room” that is the modern data security breach.

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is the manager of Canada’s .ca Top Level Domain and also provides the D-Zone anycast Domain Name System (DNS) service for security. In its booth, CIRA had a Pac-Man arcade game with the high-score winners walking away with their own Pac-Man game controller.

Securosis CEO and analyst Rich Mogull explained in a SecTor session why the emerging world of DevOps can radically remake how security is built into the software development and deployment process.

While SecTor 2014 had the usual vendor giveways, including beer cozies and pens, there was also a Canadian slant, with Nuix giving away hockey pucks.
