“Android” is the fourth fastest growing keyword found in online job postings. Android is a Linux-based operating system designed primarily for touch-screen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. As of May 2013, a total of 900 million Android devices have been activated and 48 billion apps have been installed from the Google Play store.
6Mobile App
“Mobile app” was listed as the fourth fastest growing keyword found in online job postings. The need for mobile app developers has soared as companies begin to think of a mobile first strategy when it comes to interacting with customers.
7Puppet
“Puppet” is listed as the sixth fastest growing keyword found in online job postings. Puppet is an open-source configuration management tool from Puppet Labs, founded by Luke Kanies in 2005. It is written in Ruby and released as free software under the GPL until version 2.7.0 and the Apache 2.0 license after that. Puppet Labs, which developed and maintains the Puppet project, announced several new solutions at PuppetConf 2013 last week.

“Hadoop” is listed as the seventh fastest growing keyword found in online job postings on Indeed.com. Hadoop is an open-source software framework that supports data-intensive distributed applications, licensed under the Apache v2 license. It supports the running of applications on large clusters of commodity hardware. Hadoop was derived from Google’s MapReduce and Google File System (GFS) papers. Hadoop is one of the hottest technologies around as big data is on every company’s radar and IT professionals with Hadoop expertise are in high demand.

“jQuery” is listed as the eighth fastest growing keyword found in online job postings on Indeed.com. jQuery is a multi-browser JavaScript library designed to simplify the client-side scripting of HTML. Used by more than 65 percent of the 10,000 most visited Websites, jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library in use today.

“PaaS,” or “platform as a service,” is the ninth fastest growing keyword found in online job postings on Indeed.com. PaaS is a category of cloud computing services that provides a computing platform and a solution stack as a service. Along with software as a service (SaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS), it is a service model of cloud computing. In this model, the consumer creates the software using tools and libraries from the provider.

“Social media” is the tenth fastest growing keyword found in online job postings on Indeed.com. Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. As businesses move to become more social, they are hiring people with skills in social media and the underlying technologies associated with it.
