Google’s Top Charts Lets Users Keep Up With Trends

Canines are apparently the most searched topic in the “Animals” category, where it has ranked as the top topic for months.

Perhaps because people are interested more than ever in financial security these days, gold was the most searched element.

Toward the end of April, searches for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) spiked dramatically, pushing it to the top of the “Colleges & Universities” search category.

The infamous company behind the Gulf Coast oil spill is still the most searched-for oil company on Google, and has spent 112 months on the chart.

The famous line of construction toys topped the list of Google searches in the “Games” category, with Scrabble following close behind.

Amazon held onto its position as the most searched-for retail company, with Walmart lagging a distant second.

SQL, a special-purpose programming language designed for managing data held in a relational database management system, was the top search subject in the “Software Technologies” category.

Our home planet, perhaps unsurprisingly, was the most searched-for of the known celestial bodies, with Wyoming residents making the most searches about it.

The Ford Mustang was the top search in the “Sports Cars” category, followed closely by the Chevrolet Camaro and the Corvette.

It was a close call between Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci in the race for most searched-for scientist, with Einstein eking out the victory.
