eWEEK Labs Walk-Through: Demo Conference 2007

DAVE stands for Digital Audio Video Experience and will be available in Q2 of this year. Initially, the palm-sized device will ship with 10GB or 20GB, and will connect to mobile devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Zink (Zero Ink) debuted its Zink Digital Imaging Technology which enables inkless printing. This Zink printer prints 2 by 3 inch photos and will cost an estimated $100.

Zink, which was the hit of Demo Day 1, had a display that shows how the Zink technology works. Millions of dye crystals are embedded in Zink paper. The Zink printer then applies heat, which melts the crystals, creating a photograph.

Zink also plans to integrate its printer into digital cameras.

Alcatel-Lucent Ventures showed off the Alcatel-Lucent Mobile Endpoint Management System, a secure, always-on 3G wireless card that allows IT managers to monitor and manage mobile devices remotely.

eJamming launched eJamming Audio + MIDI, software that allows musicians to play together online and in sync. Here, a musician plays the guitar on the Demo stage with a guitarist located 5,000 miles away.

Boston-Powers Sonata battery is a laptop battery that can be recharged in 30 minutes. Executives said the new batteries will avoid battery fade problems and have a far longer life than batteries in current laptops.
