      Here is the progress made in Ground zero reconstruction in 2011. The city has come under heavy criticism for how long it had taken to rebuild the site. According to a 2008 editorial in The New York Times: “Each piece—the five towers, a transit hub, the memorial to those who died on Sept. 11, 2001—must be constructed in complicated layers. Engineers have to wall off the water coming in from the Hudson River. They have to provide access for parking and utilities and bring old streets back to life. And each major step in this enormous urban development is emotionally charged as it is, after all, the site of the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor.
