TeleSign Launches Behavior ID Identity Platform

Mobile identity solutions specialist TeleSign announced the launch of TeleSign Behavior ID, which enables Web and mobile applications to measure and analyze a user’s behavioral biometrics in order to provide continuous authentication.

The platform is designed to provide authentication even after the user has been verified with traditional security measures such as passwords.

The product works in the background to collect and evaluate a mix of mouse dynamics, keystrokes, graphical user interface (GUI) interaction and behavioral algorithms to establish a unique user profile.

With this profile, Behavior ID can help prevent account takeover attempts even if a hacker is in possession of a user’s correct account credentials.

“The reality is, passwords alone are no longer enough to protect online accounts. Consumers are tired of passwords, with 70 percent losing faith in their ability to protect accounts, and companies are looking for new, simple and secure ways to verify their users,” Sergi Isasi, director of product management at TeleSign, told eWEEK. “At TeleSign we believe the strongest form of account security requires a layered approach, with behavioral biometrics as a key component of establishing and authenticating a user’s identity.”

Isasi said the company launched TeleSign Behavior ID to provide this extra layer of account security and identity assurance on top of passwords and two-factor authentication alone, in a way that adds no friction to end-users and is cost-effective for businesses.

He explained user friendliness is a key focus when designing all of their products, and that remains true with TeleSign Behavior ID.

“This is why we are especially proud that TeleSign Behavior ID provides businesses with the ability to increase security for their users without adding any friction to the end-user or requiring them to take any steps to initiate, unlike more traditional biometrics-based security measures like fingerprints or retina scans,” he said. “It works smoothly in the back-end to continuously authenticate users based on their behavioral patterns, and help protect their accounts from fraud and account takeover, even if fraudsters steal their account credentials.”

No user interaction is required to enroll, enable, and start protecting an account from compromise–users simply continue to use their web or mobile application as normal, and no change is required in their workflow or behavior.

TeleSign’s Behavior ID software development kits (SDK) for Web and mobile applications are available around the globe and can be embedded into new or existing Web and mobile app-based platforms, the company noted.
