AppDirect, a specialist in cloud service commerce announced it has acquired Radialpoint, a provider of cloud and technical support services for small businesses and consumers.

By leveraging Radialpoint’s technical support platform and staff, AppDirect will be able to equip partners with integrated support capabilities. Founded in 1997, Radialpoint provides technical support software and services that help technology vendors and IT help desks deliver differentiated support experiences. Radialpoint’s executive team and all 80 employees will join AppDirect and the company will maintain its offices in Montreal.

Warren Levitan, Radialpoint’s president and CEO, will join AppDirect’s leadership team and will continue to lead Radialpoint as a subsidiary of AppDirect.

“Over the last five years we’ve realized it’s critical to have a human element to selling and supporting cloud services,” Daniel Saks, co-CEO and co-founder of AppDirect, told eWEEK. “Radialpoint is a great standalone brand whose customers are very similar to ours, and it became apparent to us that there would be enormous value in bringing together Radialpoint’s expertise in technical support services and technology.”

Saks said the two companies share a vision to help businesses find, buy and manage the software they need. By teaming up, they’re able to provide the real person-to-person interaction needed to put cloud services in the hands of business users while helping their service provider partners drive revenue and retain their customers.

He also noted the integration between the two companies’ technologies is already complete and customers can immediately access several new premium technical support services, including Microsoft Office 365 support for small to medium-sized businesses, a Cloud and IT Helpdesk for enterprise customers, and Consumer Technical Support for all home technology.

Cloud Services Support for Microsoft Office 365 provides activation, migration, training and general support services for Office 365 for small to medium-sized business (SMBs).

The Cloud and IT Helpdesk offering provides support for a variety of hardware, software or cloud challenges, and agents can also facilitate the cross-sell of additional cloud services.

The Consumer Technical Support solution is aimed at home technology from PCs, smartphones, WiFi routers and other peripheral devices, to gaming consoles and connected smart home devices.

The service offers full-stack support regardless of manufacturer or customer issue and allows for cross-selling additional cloud services through expert agents.

These services can be distributed and acquired either in an AppDirect Marketplace or through a service provider’s existing point-of-sale and point-of-need channels.
