Dell has unveiled three new laptops to fill out its XPS line: the XPS 12 2-in-1, the XPS 13 laptop with a 13-inch display and a top-end XPS 15 that features a 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge display.
The new portables, which all run on Windows 10, were announced by the company in an Oct. 8 post on the Dell Blog.
The XPS 12 2-in-1 can easily be switched from a laptop into a tablet with one hand by removing the display from the keyboard by pulling it away from its magnetic connector. The machine includes an Intel Core M5 chipset, two USB-C ports, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-MP front-facing camera. The XPS 12, which starts at $999 and will be available beginning Nov. 5, can also be ordered with an optional 4K Ultra HD display.
The new XPS 13 laptop features 6th-generation Intel Core processors and Intel HD graphics, as well as solid-state drive options of up to 1TB and memory configurations up to 16GB. The machine includes expected battery life of up to 18 hours, as well as a Thunderbolt 3 multiuse port that can be used for device charging and connections to two external 4K displays, and for ultra-fast data transfers of up to 40G bps, eight times that of a USB 3.0, according to Dell.
The XPS 13 is a 13-inch laptop that is squeezed into an 11-inch frame, making it smaller while maintaining its screen size.
The machine starts at $799 and is available immediately, with touch-screen models starting at $1,449. A special gold version of the XPS 13 will be available for $1,649 from selected retailers.
The top-of-the-line XPS laptop, the new XPS 15 (pictured), can be configured with an assortment of different 6th-generation Intel quad-core processors and with an optional 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card that includes 2GB of GDDR5 video memory.
The XPS 15 can be configured with up to 16GB of 2,133MHz memory and can be ordered with standard or SSD hard drives of up to 1TB. The machine features a battery that is expected to last up to 17 hours.
The XPS 15 starts at $999.99 and is available immediately.
