Laplink Software announced its newest version of PCmover Professional, a program for PC-to-PC transfers and a migration solution endorsed by Microsoft, in time for the release of Windows 10.

PCmover automatically moves files, settings, and even applications to a new PC, and allows users to perform a complete upgrade to Windows 7, 8, and now Windows 10.

This latest version of PCmover will support all transfer scenarios, including upgrading an existing PC to Windows 10, migrating from an old hard drive (or image) to a new PC, or migrating to a new PC across a network (wired or wireless) or through a transfer cable.

In the past, Windows Easy Transfer was available to move data and settings to a new PC, but Windows 10 does not include this capability. Laplink also provides 24/7 transfer assistance at no cost to help PCmover users have a smoother migration experience.

“PCmover is very user friendly. The Pro version comes with a wizard that guides users through the process and allows all choices of what to transfer to the new PC. It is built in a way that even novice users can easily walk through the process,” Thomas Koll, CEO of Laplink, told eWEEK. “Some users struggle with the PC-to-PC connectivity and might get confused about networks, firewalls, et cetera. We offer 24/7 Free Transfer Assistant where a trained technician will help the users through any questions and even remotely do the migration.”

Koll noted business, government and enterprise customers have different needs. Laplink provides a fully customizable version, PCmover Enterprise, that allows IT admins to customize the wizard creating even a light or no touch migrations that can be executed by users or untrained technicians.

The new version of PCmover also includes full integration with cloud-based data, a streamlined migration wizard, better handling of multiple user profiles and accounts, an easy undo option, and a money-back satisfaction guarantee.

PCmover is available in several major languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Brazilian and Portuguese.

“Windows 10 will become the new OS of choice replacing Windows 7. Since many business customers did not want to deploy Windows 8/8.1, I believe that the adoption curve will be much higher with Windows 10 than experienced before,” Koll said. “Businesses might not wait for 12 months this time around. We are working with many enterprises that are ready to switch once Windows 10 is released.”
