Acronis launched the Data Protection Platform, which offers a set of data protection solutions for backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sync and share.
The platform supports a range of deployment models, business models, and technology environments currently in use by service providers, resellers and distributors.
The Data Protection Platform is designed to meet the needs of service provider environments. It supports systems including XEN; KVM; Linux, Virtuozzo; Docker; Open-Xchange; MySQL; Windows; Mac; Hyper-Visor; VMware; RHEV; Oracle VM; Microsoft Exchange, and SQL. It also includes a built-in automation feature that allows partners to scale out the solution to greater numbers of end user customers.
Acronis also is releasing an updated version of Backup Cloud, its cloud-based backup platform, and introducing Files Cloud, a file sync and share solution.
Backup Cloud offers new features, including expanded support for Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Exchange, and Mac OS X environments; initial seeding capabilities to easily move large volumes of data to the cloud, and local backup recovery directly from within a centralized management console.
Files Cloud provides office and mobile workers with safe file access, sync, and share (FSS) services in a secure cloud environment. It is designed to help service providers and partners address the growing security needs that accompany bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives and the expanding mobile workforce.
Files Cloud provides the ability to store documents and business files in a private cloud, while offering comprehensive security and controls – including encryption, audit trails, and user management.
The platform is available worldwide in English, German and Russian, with additional language support planned for later this year.
Acronis also announced the global availability of its backup and disaster recovery platform, Disaster Recovery Service, a hybrid cloud solution that protects files, servers, and whole data centers.
Last month Kaspersky Lab announced it would start bundling its security solutions with backup services provided by Acronis. The solution is available to channel partners in the U.S. exclusively through Ingram Micro.
The bundled offering combines Kaspersky’s Endpoint Security for Business and Acronis Backup Advanced to provide businesses with centralized management for security and backup.
A December 2014 report by IDC Research found that data storage, backup and recovery is the top cloud infrastructure use case among businesses, with 55 percent currently using or planning to use these external cloud infrastructure services in the next 12 months.
