Web security specialist Check Point announced the launch of Capsule, a multi-layer security solution designed to addresses mobile security and data challenges brought on by bring-your-own-device initiatives and the presence of personal mobile devices in the workplace.
Capsule protects business data on mobile devices, without having to manage the entire device. The platform creates a secure business environment and separates business data from personal data and applications on mobile devices.
The platform creates a secure business environment where users have one-touch access to corporate email, files, directories, corporate contacts and calendars, without affecting their personal data.
“Capsule provides complete mobile security by extends the corporate security policy to mobile devices, including IPS, application control, URL filtering, antivirus and anti-bot protection, threat emulation and virtual private networks,” Juliette Rizkallah, Check Point’s vice president of global marketing, told eWEEK. “Capsule enables organizations to apply a single corporate security policy both inside the corporate perimeter and on mobile devices wherever they go.”
Capsule is fully scalable and can be deployed for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) through enterprise organizations. The total cost structure is per user. For a per-user license, the cost is $15 per user, per month and for an enterprise license, the cost is $8 per user, per month.
In addition, the per-user license can be connected with an unlimited number of devices that an individual may have.
This enables users to securely use business applications through a simple user interface, where users have one-touch access to corporate email, files, directories, corporate contacts and calendars, without affecting their personal data.
The platform is also designed to prevent internal and external data leakages by attaching security that travels with the document. Capsule secures business documents everywhere, and authorized users can access a protected document on any device.
Users can also extend the corporate security policy to protect devices from threats when outside the corporate network. Capsule scans all traffic from mobile devices in the cloud and prevents access to malicious files and Websites, bot damages and other cyber-threats.
In addition, the solution supports various device platforms and operating systems including Apple iOS, Google Android, Windows and MacOS operating systems.
The platform does not support BlackBerry, however, Rizkallah said the company plans to add support for additional platforms in the future, but started with the platforms with the largest user base, referring to Android and iOS.
“We feel that Capsule is a single solution that addresses the security needs of organizations with an increasingly mobile workforce,” Rizkallah said. “We always thrive to continue to innovate on all of our products including Capsule to ensure the best security for our customers.”
