Mobile handset manufacturer ZTE unveiled a range of smartphones and products at this week’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), with a focus on delivering an improved user experience and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity.

The slim Grand Memo II LTE boasts a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 6-inch screen with a 178-degree viewing angle that takes up 80 percent of the front of the handset.

The device utilizes ZTE’s MiFavor 2.3 user interface (UI) with a range of new icons, and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and a 3200mAh battery into its 7.2mm ultra-slim frame.

The MiFavor 2.3 UI is designed to improve the user experience by making the handset more natural for human use, such as memorizing user habits.

The phone can be customized to a user’s needs using intelligent split screens and offers integration with functions such as notebook, calendar, weather forecast, alarm clock, Internet, and music.

The company’s battery-saving solutions can cut power consumption by 30 percent, allowing for 16 hours of continuous HD video playback, 72 hours of music playback or several days of normal use.

The Grand Memo II LTE runs Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and offers a 13MP rear digital autofocus camera, as well as a 2.2MP front-facing lens.

Other features include 2GB RAM+, 16GB embedded Multi-Media Controller (eMMC) storage, an ambient light sensor, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac connectivity, as well as vehicle navigation and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) connectivity.

“The Grand Memo II LTE is designed to meet the increasing user demand for stylish design with an intuitive user experience,” Zeng Xuezhong, CEO of ZTE mobile devices and executive vice president of ZTE Corporation, said in a statement. “High performance technology must be met with a simplistic user interface which allows users to customize their experience based on personal preferences.”

The Grand Memo II LTE follows last year’s launch of the Grand Memo LTE. The device will first launch in April in China, followed by simultaneous launches in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, the company said.

“We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with ZTE to introduce the new high performance Grand Memo II LTE,” Raj Talluri, senior vice president of product management for Qualcomm, said in a statement. “Powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor with integrated LTE connectivity, the Grand Memo II provides a high quality multimedia experience with seamless connectivity for users to be constantly connected on the go.”

In addition to showcasing one of the first Firefox OS 1.3 devices, the ZTE Open C handset, the company is also exhibiting the Projector Hotspot, a mini projector and WiFi hotspot in one and the Grand Watch Smart Watch at the convention.
