BeeWi, which makes connected smart toys (such as helicopters, cars and robots), and lifestyle audio and home automation products, on Jan. 6 won the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show Innovations Design and Engineering award for its new BBH300 smart wireless headphone.

With the company’s patented docking station, a user can stream music via Bluetooth or WiFi directly from any mobile device to a hi-fi system, using BeeWi’s smart headphone as sort of a wireless gateway.

Users then can listen to playlists stored on a mobile phone or tablet wirelessly on the hi-fi system, while charging the headphone. The BBH300 can either be paired wirelessly using Bluetooth or connected with a traditional audio jack cable, which is included.

The BBH300 is a lightweight, foldable headphone with padded cushions and an integrated microphone. Operated using a tactile interface, the BBH300 features a battery life of 18 hours—including 80 hours on standby mode, BeeWi said.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award today. The BBH300 is all about convenience and comfort, from its minimalist design to its unique and innovative multi-mode functions,” said Thierry Dechatre, CEO and founder of Marseilles, France-based BeeWi.

“The BBH300 is the only high-end headphone that can seamlessly switch between listening music on a mobile device, a hi-fi system and a phone conversation, while letting the user always keep control of its music from a smartphone.”

The BBH300 is available in either black or white and supports the BeeWi AudioLink app (Android, iOS, Windows 8) to access the headphone’s capabilities using a mobile phone or a tablet device. Retail price is $149.

Technical specifications for the BBH300 Bluetooth Headphones with Docking Station include:
      –Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
      –Powered Class 2, 10 meters/33-foot range
–SPP, HSP, HFP, A2DP, AVRCP Bluetooth profiles
–Up to 10 hours of talk or 200 hours of standby time
      –Dimensions: 170 x 155 x 58 mm
      –Weight (headphones only): 134g/4.7 oz.

BeeWi’s BBH300 will be displayed in The Venetian at CES, which continues through Jan. 10 in Las Vegas.
