CARY, N.C.–SAS Institute, a provider of business analytics software, has once again nabbed a top spot among the best places to work in the world.

The business analytics specialist remains on the Top 25 World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list from Great Place to Work, claiming the No. 2 spot, according to a study conducted by Great Place to Work.

This marks the third year SAS has been on the list, underscoring the company’s continued focus on creating a global work environment that inspires and energizes employees. SAS highlighted its position during a SAS Media Day event here.

“Being on this list validates the hard work and effort SAS employees put into their jobs every day,” SAS CEO Jim Goodnight, said in a statement. “We have a work environment that allows people to do their best without unnecessary distractions so that they can be more creative and productive. It’s one way we ensure we are delivering innovative software solutions to our customers. SAS employees are inspired by the global impact of our products and the importance of their contributions, no matter what role they play or where they are located.”

Last year, SAS ranked No. 1 on the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list and No. 2 on the U.S. list. So far in 2013, three SAS offices (in Greece, the Netherlands and Switzerland) have been ranked No. 1. SAS has also been among the top workplaces recognized by Great Place to Work in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, and Portugal and Spain. In addition, it has been ranked No. 4 as a great place to work in Europe. The Great Place to Work Institute has recognized SAS many times since the organization was founded to identify companies that have created great workplaces.

“At SAS, we’re encouraged to do whatever we need to do to create awesome software,” Martha Wilkes, a SAS software development manager, said in a statement. “You can have great insights about software design come to you at any moment, thanks to our work environment. We’ve got the necessary tools, the right people and the support to focus on solving problems—all while being surrounded by artwork and scenery that energize and inspire us.”

According to this reporter, if judged on the cafeteria alone, SAS gains solid marks for feeding its employees excellent fare at reasonable prices.

To be eligible, companies must appear on five or more national Great Place to Work lists in the past year and have more than 5,000 employees worldwide, with at least 40 percent working outside the company’s home country. Companies on the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces list are rated by their employees to be among the best companies, and have solid human resources policies and practices that support a culture of trust.

Great Place to Work, headquartered in San Francisco, is a global research, consulting and training firm that helps organizations identify, create and sustain great workplaces through the development of high-trust workplace cultures. Great Place to Work serves businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies in almost 50 countries.
