Jelastic, a provider of a Java and PHP cloud hosting platform, has announced the integration of the Jelastic platform with NetBeans IDE, one of the most popular integrated development environments for Java development.

With the new Jelastic plug-in for the NetBeans IDE, users can access their development, test and production deployments without leaving their familiar Java IDE.

Jelastic’s Java and PHP-based cloud platform differs from other platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offerings in that its key priority is convenience and ease of use. Thus, a goal of the new plug-in was to make development of Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) Web applications on the Jelastic platform much more convenient, since the developer can now log in to Jelastic and deploy the app in the cloud right from the NetBeans IDE.

“NetBeans IDE optimizes Java and PHP development, and has so many great features such as Java EE support, high-quality code editors, version control tools and an intuitive UI,” Dmitry Sotnikov, chief operating officer at Jelastic, said in a statement. “Now, NetBeans IDE users have the ability to work with their Jelastic hosting, without having to ever leave their favorite development environment.”

The Jelastic plug-in is a set of software-development tools that are designed to simplify the process of application management and development in the NetBeans IDE in the form of projects in the Jelastic platform.

Moreover, the Jelastic plug-in for the NetBeans IDE enables developers to deploy NetBeans IDE projects to Jelastic, access and manage server log files, manage user environments and work with application contexts among other things.

The Jelastic plug-in for the NetBeans IDE significantly facilitates development and deployment of Java EE projects, developed in this tool, as developers can manage their deployments and hosting environments without switching between the IDE and the browser. The plug-in can be installed automatically from the NetBeans IDE plug-in portal.

Jelastic also integrates with build systems such as Maven, Ant, Hudson and Jenkins, as well as with other widely used IDEs, such as Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA.

The Jelastic platform is standards-based and offers a wide range of major stack components. Developers simply choose the software stacks they need, and in a few minutes, their application is up and running, and able to easily scale, on Jelastic. Setting up and managing cloud environments is simple and straightforward, so that the entire lifecycle of an app is optimized, the company said.
