Hewlett-Packard is reaching out to small and midsize businesses struggling to adapt to an increasingly mobile workforce with a slew of services and solutions, as well as financing and training programs designed to help midmarket companies simplify IT and boost their collaboration and productivity.

According to Gartner research, by 2016, at least 50 percent of business email users will rely primarily on a tablet or mobile client instead of a traditional desktop, suggesting a rising need for IT infrastructure solutions geared toward mobile clients.

HP€™s Client Virtualization SMB virtual desktop solution improves SMB security by protecting the company€™s data, storing user profiles and data on a centralized server. The offering includes reference architectures, such as HP’s ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) servers and client virtualization software from Citrix, Microsoft and VMware. The reference architecture for Microsoft virtual desktop interface (VDI) is scheduled to be available in September, the company said.

HP€™s Client Virtualization, Analysis and Modeling is a prepackaged service that analyzes the existing IT environment and is designed to reduce the risk and complexity of client virtualization projects, while speeding deployment of virtualization. The Transformation Experience Workshop for Mobility platform aims to simplify adoption of mobile technology by ensuring employees have access to data while upholding network security requirements.

The company€™s customizable Business Protection Solutions address three key elements of a secure business: safe data, a secure network and the availability of applications. The solutions, which include data protection, application protection, backup and archiving, and disaster recovery, help increase uptime for the mobile workforce with preconfigured reference architectures based on HP Converged Infrastructure and best practices in data protection, network security and disaster recovery.

Mobile workforces demand great access to the Web and strive for higher levels of productivity on an ever-expanding array of mobile devices, and HP has responded to this need with a suite of collaboration tools and appliances to reduce the complexity of implementing a mobile IT infrastructure. The company€™s Unified Communications & Collaboration (UC&C) Solutions with Microsoft Lync is an integrated hardware and software solution that includes Lync software, HP voice over IP (VoIP) phones, HP networking and HP ProLiant Gen8 servers, storage and services.

In addition, SMBs can streamline the deployment of networks with HP€™s Multi-Service Router (MSR) Series, a customizable platform that integrates security and wired and wireless networking features into one device. Featuring energy-saving Power over Internet (PoE) technology, the 1910 8G Switch Series delivers network access for voice, video and other rich-media applications. Finally, HP€™s X5000 network-attached storage (NAS) platform simplifies the management of unstructured data flowing from mobile devices by ensuring users have access to file data.
