BARCELONA, Spain Huawei introduced the MediaPad 10 FHD 10-inch quad-core tablet today at Mobile World Congress, featuring a Huawei 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Google Android 4.0 operating system and a 10-inch in-plane switching (IPS) high-definition display screen. Running on the companys proprietary quad-core processor, the MediaPad 10 FHD leverages the K3 chip’s embedded GPU to provide fast processing power and 3D graphics processing capability, ideal for high-definition video clips or large-scale 3D games.
The MediaPad 10 FHD also enables high-speed wireless access of up to 84M bps (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) 21/42/84M bps), while at the same time supporting a number of network standards, including Long-Term Evolution (LTE). The unibody of the tablet is made of aluminum-alloy materials, providing a glossy and light finish. The tablet is 8.8mm thin and weighs just 1.3 pounds. The MediaPad 10 FHD, the fourth-generation tablet from Huawei, follows the S7, S7 Slim and MediaPad (Android Honeycomb), and will be available for the global market in the second quarter of 2012.
The audio-visual functionalities of the MediaPad 10 FHD include a high-definition 1,920 by 1,200 IPS display that supports multi-touch, surround-sound technology and an 8-megapixel rear automatic-focus camera and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and memory storage of 2G RAM, making it possible to record and store high-definition photos and videos.
“Most consumers use tablets for entertainment purposes such as gaming, viewing multimedia content, browsing the Internet and reading ebooks,” said Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei Device. “We have created the MediaPad 10 FHD to excel in all of the entertainment capabilities, including speed, power, Web-browsing, high-definition display and audio, and packaging it all in a compact and portable body.”
Powered by the Huaweis K3V2 quad-core 1.2GHz/1.5GHz processor and boasting a compact design for a 4.5-inch smartphone, the Ascend D quad is powered by the Android 4.0 operating system and Huaweis proprietary power management system, which provides up to 30 percent in energy savings. Other features include Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and Audience earSmart voice technology, an 8-megapixel BSI rear-facing camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and 1080p full HD video-capture and playback capabilities.
As part of the Ascend D series, Huawei also introduced the Ascend D quad XL and the Ascend D1 smartphones. The Ascend D quad XL comes with a 2500mAh battery, which provides two to three days of normal usage. With the same specifications as the Ascend D quad, the Ascend D quad XL measures 10.9 mm slim. The Ascend D1 runs on a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU and has a 1670mAh battery.
