5nine Software, a provider of Microsoft Hyper-V management solutions for small to midsize business virtual data center environments and V-Cloud hosting providers, April 13 announced that it has added Easy Monitor for Hyper-V to 5nine Manager for Hyper-V Free Edition and 5nine Manager for Hyper-V. Manager for Hyper-V is designed to provide user-friendly management for Microsoft Hyper-V in full, free and core installations.

The platform is free and available to download via the company’s Website. The company also offers a full version of the product that provides Guest Connection View and Comprehensive Network Bindings for GUI-less Hyper-V installations. It is priced at $99 per managed host.

With Easy Monitor, Manager for Hyper-V provides intuitive monitoring functionality, allowing businesses to view information about the use of host hardware-including CPU, memory, network and disk-overall virtualized environment health as well as the individual hosts and virtual machine performance in real time.

Manager for Hyper-V allows managing virtual machines, virtual hard disks and networks on both local and remote Hyper-V hosts. Manager for Hyper-V can be used to manage Hyper-V on Windows 2008 R2 Core and Hyper-V Sever installations without Microsoft Hyper-V Manager or Virtual Machine Manager Server. In addition to this, the platform simplifies the administration tasks on Windows 2008 Core installations and Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 by providing a GUI for file system views and operations.

The upcoming release of Manager for Hyper-V, expected in early May, will include more comprehensive monitoring and alerting, with the ability to track performance history and workload trends. In conjunction with Virtual Firewall for Hyper-V, it can be used to create additional secure Hyper-V infrastructures adhering to Microsoft Best Practices for free, core and full installations of Hyper-V and Windows Server 2008 R2/R2 SP1.

Manager for Hyper-V also provides virtual network management. The platform can be used to troubleshoot and fix network connections and related problems that cannot be fixed via remote management, and also allows reviewing and editing virtual network ports used by the virtual network interfaces and guests.

In March, the company announced the release of the first integrated security solution for Microsoft Hyper-V environments. Virtual Firewall for Microsoft Hyper-V now integrates Sophos Enterprise Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware engine. The solution offers antivirus, anti-spyware and firewall protection in a single security package designed and optimized specifically for virtualization environments. It is engineered to improve the security and compliance for multitenant cloud environments as well as enterprise customers.
