Siemens Enterprise Communications announced updated deployment options for its all-in-one, IP-based unified communications and collaboration solutions to help small and midsize businesses simplify collaboration and mobility.

Available through the company’s network of reseller partners, OpenScape Office version 3 aims to help mobile workers and those in separate locations stay connected by a complete UC (unified communications) solution for SMBs, including voice and conferencing services, presence, mobility, social networking and multichannel contact-center capabilities.

Using the latest release of OpenScape Office, mobile workers have access to UC tools on mobile devices designed to help them stay closer to business contacts while on the road or in separate locations. Presence and messaging are now also “federated,” or interoperable, across OpenScape Office and Google through an open industry standard XMPP interface.

“The requirement to enhance reachability for better customer and partner interactions, and more efficient internal processes, is as critical for SMB organizations as large enterprises-if not more so,” said Jeremiah Caron, vice president, analysis, at research firm Current Analysis. “Therefore, their communications systems must be capable of handling multiple sites and mobile workers seamlessly to drive fundamental business requirements and objectives, such as a high level of customer service and, of course, growth.”

OpenScape Office offers three deployment models, including OpenScape LX, Office MX and Office HX. The first is an all-in-one software-based UC solution for up to 500 users, designed to run on a single server and featuring UC, IP-telephony software, multisite networking with LX and MX systems and virtualization capabilities.

“With rising customer service expectations, increasing reliance on advanced communications technologies and the continued push toward mobility, SMBs are looking toward a solution like OpenScape Office V3 [version 3] to maintain their competitive advantage,” said Chris Hummel, president of North America and CMO of Siemens Enterprise Communications. “The new deployment models offered in OpenScape Office V3 allow our channel partners to enable SMBs with greater flexibility and scalability to customize a UC deployment to their unique needs.”

Office MX is an all-in-one UC platform for up to 150 users and combines UC, IP-telephony software, PSTN connectivity and multisite networking with MX and LX systems, while Office HX supports the converged SMB communications platform HiPath 3000. OpenScape Office V3 and its deployment models will be available through Siemens’ channel partners during the April-May timeframe of 2011, according to a company release.

“OpenScape Office V3 uniquely simplifies communication allowing multisite offices to operate as one system which always allows you to know the availability of colleagues across office locations-and the best way to reach them,” said Sam Wood, vice president of sales and business development, Innovative Technology Group. “Available via a single Extended UC Domain, multisite networking supports companies with up to 500 users in a single location and up to 1,000 users in multisite environments.
