, has released its list of the Top 10 open-source projects of 2010.

The provider of enterprise open-source software support also announced that the company saw record sales growth in 2010. The economic recovery is accelerating enterprise investment in high-quality, low-cost open-source software, driving higher demand for OpenLogic products and services, company officials said.

According to OpenLogic’s support requests, the Top 10 open-source projects for 2010 were:

OpenLogic officials said the company is able to observe trends in the popularity of the use of open-source projects in the enterprise. And this information goes beyond simple download statistics to include information about adoption and support. In 2010, OpenLogic customers most frequently purchased support for the projects above.

Moreover, sales to new customers climbed 133 percent, with the strongest growth in the technology sector due to the uptake of OpenLogic’s new source-code scanning solution, the company said. And existing customers expanded their use of OpenLogic products and services, resulting in a 68 percent rise in sales of add-on products.

OpenLogic now has more than 200 customers worldwide, the majority of which are large enterprises. In 2010, OpenLogic also saw strong growth among smaller enterprises, where sales increased 125 percent over 2009 figures. OpenLogic’s top industries continue to be financial services and technology, with the biggest gains in 2010 coming from the technology sector due to the launch of OpenLogic’s new source-code scanning solutions.

“2010 was OpenLogic’s -Year of Scanning,'” said Steve Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. “The successful launch of our Source-Code Scanning and License-Compliance solutions in early 2010 drove a record year for sales growth. Customers are hungry for scanning solutions that get accurate results quickly without having to manually comb through thousands of -false-positive’ results. Large enterprises, from software providers to mobile handset manufacturers to large banks to health care companies, are now relying on OpenLogic to scan their software and ensure compliance with open-source licenses.”

Moreover, in its “Year of Scanning,” OpenLogic launched several new scanning products and services to help companies identify open-source code and comply with licenses. These included:
