Technology sales, marketing and logistics company Ingram Micro announced a SecurePOS SMB bundle – an all-in-one POS solution that provides retailers with end-to-end data encryption of cardholder information starting with the customers’ swipe of their credit cards. Available now through the Ingram Micro Data Capture/POS Division, the company claimed the SecurePOS SMB Bundle is the first solution of its kind to offer data encryption capabilities.

The bundle, sold exclusively to Ingram Micro channel partners in the United States, is comprised of several technologies, including the HP rp3000 Point of Sale System, MagTek MagneSafe Card Reader and Uniforce Technology software. Additional hardware and software vendors featured within the bundle include Cherry Electronics, Citizen, Planar, and Payment Processing. (PPI). According to Justin Scopaz, general manager and vice president of Ingram Micro’s data capture/POS division, the market need and sales potential for an affordable, safe, reliable and secure POS solution is increasing rapidly among small and mid-size retailers.

“Adoption of POS technology is growing due to the critical business need for increased, productivity and accountability,” said Scopaz. “Yet businesses that are not selective with the technology they deploy will continue to run the risk of card theft and lose money, as well as customers, because they do not have a secure POS solution in place. This new SecurePOS SMB Bundle is unlike anything available through distribution today and offers our channel partners a safe, secure and affordable all-in-one solution for their retail customers.”

HP’s rp3000 POS system, designed to fit in tight spaces, allows small business owners to configure the system’s components in several ways and features a lockable front coverand multiple rear peripheral ports to help keep the system, receipts and data secure from tampering. MagTek’s MagneSafe card reader offers midmarket companies a secure data encryption device that provides cardholder data protection, is powered from a USB port and can be connected to any PC or terminal with a USB interface. The MagneSafe BT90 is specifically designed to conduct secure mobile transactions using the Bluetooth interface.

Dave Swinkin, U.S. sales manager for HP rPOS, called Ingram Micro’s SecurePOS SMB bundle “an exciting new offering” that delivers the security and performance retailers need, and the technical, sales and marketing support channel partners want from their distribution partner, while Chuck Reigel, PPI’s executive vice president of software products and partnerships, said PPI is fortunate to be a part of this collaboration with Ingram Micro and its vendor partners to deliver an industry-first cardholder data encryption solution. “This new SecurePOS SMB Bundle brings to market a powerful solution that helps our channel partners ensure their customers’ data is always safe and secure,” he said.
