Buffalo Technology, an Austin, Texas-based storage and memory solutions company, announced two products aimed at providing small to medium-size businesses with feature-rich network storage solutions.

The newly designed TeraStation Duo and the TeraStation III feature enhanced backup speeds, hot spare and hot swap capabilities, as well as eco-conscious power management.

“As businesses grow, so does their data and need to keep it protected,” said Buffalo’s vice president of sales, Ken Higgins. “Buffalo is continuously pushing the envelope to develop products that not only provide these necessities with high capacities and secure encryption, but raises the standards with faster transfer speeds, power management systems and much more.”

The latest TeraStation devices include features that support dependable backup and allow users to transfer digital content at faster rates to quickly secure and backup larger files on multiple servers. The TeraStation III lists for $1,299.99 for the 2-terabyte (TB) version and $2,299.99 for the 4TB version. The TeraStation Duo lists for $319.99 for the 1TB model and $399.99 for the 2TB model. Both products are backed by a limited one-year warranty.

The TeraStation Duo includes a two-drive bay and along with the TeraStation III, it includes new backup features such as replication, support for Mac’s Time Machine and hot spare for uninterrupted operation. Both devices offer a Web Access feature for remote access to all data stored on the devices via a Web browser from wherever you can connect to the Internet.
Both devices also include two Ethernet ports and internal flash boot. Aiming for a more eco-friendly approach to electronics, the devices offer power management features, which the company claims reduces power consumption by 66 percent while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions.
These power management features include a scheduled power management system with three timers, allowing for automatic shut down during non-business hours. The devices also include hard drive spin-down, which saves energy when drives are not in use.
Both the TeraStation Duo and the TeraStation III include hot swappable drives for continued use even in the unlikely event of drive failure. The devices also include disk encryption for enhanced data protection and a controlled fan with a thermal sensor for optimal cooling.
