QuickLabel Systems announced May 7 the release of its Zeo ink-jet label printer, which enables small and midsize businesses to print custom and personalized labels in-house, in quantities between one to 1,000 labels a day.

The ink-jet label printer allows SMBs to print photos, text and bar codes onto finished die-cut label shapes while also enabling users to print one label at a time or up to 149 photo-quality labels an hour. In addition, the printer features a print-on demand mode that allows users to print one personalized single label as a customized gift or 100 labels for an order of private label products.

The Zeo, which uses Hewlett-Packards thermal ink-jet engine, allows users to select their label graphics from design programs including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as well as any Windows-compatible software.

The ink-jet printers CQL (Custom QuickLabel) Photo software lets users create and print customized labels. The print software allows users to design labels by combining graphics, text panels, bar codes and variable data fields into a ready-to-print digital file.

The print software from QuickLabel, a product group of Astro-Med, also allows users to create and format text, enabling them to add things such as nutrition labels, fact panels, expiration dates and other information within CQL Photo software as well as import their photos and other images into the label and then print the label.

With CQL, users can manage the number of copies or batches that they print.

“We applied our core competencies in software and electronics engineering, industrial design, label materials development, and knowledge of label printing applications to HPs ink-jet technology in order to manufacture a uniquely attractive and fully featured ink-jet label printer for the small-business market,” Albert Ondis, CEO of the Astro-Med, said in a statement.

QuickLabels Zeo ink-jet label printer is available now for $2,995.
