Verio is rolling out the latest version of its Web-based shopping cart tool, ShopSite 8.1, to help its Web hosting customers create and manage successful online stores.

ShopSite 8.1 will help small and midsize businesses manage inventory, payments and sales records commerce on their Web sites. It is compatible with multiple payment processing services, including PayPal, Authorize.Net and WorldPay, Verio officials said.

Support for the new Google Checkout allows merchants to accept credit card payments without having to obtain a merchant account, and Verio customers who configure ShopSite in accordance with Payment Card Industry Security Practices guidelines can be confident that their credit card and order information are safe and secure, company officials said.

“By incorporating a direct e-commerce solution such as ShopSite into their Web sites, Verio customers can help to increase customer loyalty by improving the shopping experience on their sites,” said Dennis Boyle, Verios chief operating officer in a statement.

“The ability to create an advanced online store in minutes, without complex installation or cost, is just another example of how we champion small business innovation.”

ShopSite 8.1 is certified by VISA as a Payment Application Best Practices applicant and will automatically pass purchasing information by VeriSigns Fraud Control system.

Additionally, a new auction integration function allows customers with eBay seller accounts to offer up products for auction on eBay directly from his or her ShopSite back office interface.

DY Home Décor—an online retail store that sells home décor merchandise such as wallpaper, borders, murals, cutouts, fabric and home accents—found integrating ShopSite into the companys existing Web site simple.

“We had a pre-existing shopping cart developed for our Web site that was not meeting our expectations or the continued growth of our business,” said Brian Wilkinson, co-owner of DYHomeDecor.com.

“After searching for a better solution, we selected Verio Web hosting with the ShopSite tool, which has not only integrated seamlessly with our site, but has also provided our customers with the highest level of security and sophisticated features that make shopping at our site an enjoyable experience.”

As DY Home Décor begins to expand its operations, Wilkinson said, the benefits of features like FedEx real-time shipping quotes will be useful.

“Were about to expand our business globally, allowing us to reach customers from all over the world,” he said. “Verios ShopSite with FedEx real-time quotes will be the perfect compliment to our global shipping capabilities.”

ShopSite 8.1 Starter comes pre-installed with Verios Hosting 2000 and Windows eStorefront hosting plans, and can be added to other Verio hosting plans for $9 per month.

Customers may upgrade ShopSite to the Manager or Pro level for an additional monthly fee.
