Oracle announced Wednesday an integrated business process platform intended to simplify the security of SOA and Web services.

Prakash Ramamurthy, vice president of Server Technologies at Oracle Corp., said Oracle BPEL Process Manager tightly integrates with Oracle Web Services Manager to provide end-to-end security and management capabilities that ensure that the Web services deployed within or across enterprise firewalls are secure. The two technologies are components of Oracle Fusion Middleware.

“We are taking away some of the biggest obstacles companies have had in deploying Web services and service-oriented architectures,” Ramamurthy said.

The Oracle BPEL Process Manager is based on the Business Process Execution Language and enables users to deliver transactions and business processes based on composite applications, the company said, while the Oracle Web Services Manager secures and manages Web services.

This component also features a policy manager, policy gateways, policy agents and a monitoring dashboard. And, combined, the components help enterprises meet service level agreements, Oracle officials said.

Ramamurthy said the combined products allow for simplified creation, integration, orchestration and accessing of secure Web services without hard-coding security policies, transformations, location transparency and version control.

“Were one of the first to provide this capability,” Ramamurthy said.

Meanwhile, as Oracle is seizing on the opportunity in Web services, the company also is using its momentum in the identity management area, Ramamurthy said.

Oracle also announced Wednesday that seven system integrators that used to work with Oblix Inc., which Oracle acquired in March, have signed up to support Oracle Identity Management: Allstream Inc., Entology Inc., Logic Trends Inc., Midwave Corp., Nulli Secundus Inc., Otecia Inc. and Wipro Ltd. Oracle Identity Management is the core security component of Oracle Fusion Middleware.

“Oracle has made significant investments in the identity management space, most notably our acquisition of Oblix earlier this year,” said Hasan Rizvi, vice president of Identity Management and Security Products for Oracles Server Technologies Division, in a statement.

“These investments are already proving fruitful. We are seeing significant demand for the product and are currently working with key partners to help them build practice groups around Oracle Identity Management,” Rizvi said.

“We are seeing an increasing number of enterprise-level initiatives in the identity management space within our customer base. Oracle Identity Management is key in delivering these initiatives,” said K.R. Sanjiv, vice president of e-Enabling at Wipro Technologies, in a statement.
