To help users suss out pertinent information, some enterprise application integration developers are adding new capabilities to their software.

Vitria Technology Inc. will announce this week a new ResolutionAccelerator Business Process Application—part of Vitrias family of process-centric integration applications—which lets companies automatically manage exceptions in business processes at the system and human level.

Separately, TIBCO Software Inc. announced last week that it will embed TimesTen Inc.s DataServer technology into its namesake BusinessFactor BAM (Business Activity Monitoring) software.

By adding TimesTens DataServer technology to its BAM stack, TIBCO users will have the capability to process larger amounts of event and data volumes. TIBCOs BusinessFactor brings in real-time data from systems for processing. It also allows users to collaborate with other systems and interact with processes to take action on exceptions.

TimesTen, which is in the process of being acquired by Oracle Corp., is capable of capturing more than 60,000 events per second and accessing more than 200,000 records per second on a commodity-class server, officials said.

Vitria, of Sunnyvale, Calif., is taking a different tack with managing processes. Through ResolutionAccelerator, users will have the ability to automate system exception resolution through the use of business rules. On the human side, the application utilizes an adaptive learning system whereby businesses input specific parameters to manage exceptions.

Dave Mewes, CIO and vice president of IT at MasterBrand Cabinets Inc., is beta testing ResolutionAccelerators rules functionality.

“[ResolutionAccelerator] will solve primarily conflicts of human error, conflicts of different databases and also multiple [enterprise resource planning systems] running,” said Mewes in Jasper, Ind.

The ResolutionAccelerator application, which Vitria developed based on best practices gleaned from three separate companies implementations, can be configured for any application or process, company officials said. It will be available June 29 as a more horizontal application. Later iterations will take a more vertical approach.
