Systinet Corp. has announced new versions of its Web services and service-oriented architecture infrastructure software that includes governance, policy and service lifecycle management.

The Burlington, Mass., company on Monday released Systinet Registry 6.0 and Systinet Policy Manager. The two products enable users to take disparate Web services and share, control and manage them, the company said.

New features in Systinet Registry 6.0 include a configurable management console, implementation of the Governance Interoperability Framework, streamlined approval and workflow processes, and support for daisy-chained staging and production registries.

Systinet Policy Manager 6.0 facilitates the creation and use of policies in an SOA, the company said. Product features include policy creation capabilities; policy validation, compliance and reporting; and policy lifecycle process.

In addition, Systinet officials cited the companys plans to expand the Systinet product line in a project known as “Blizzard.” Blizzard is the companys code name for the effort to make the Systinet Platform include solutions for SOA information management and impact management, company officials said.

/zimages/1/28571.gifPeter Coffee says SOA demands a new way of thinking. Click here to read why.

“Systinet has been achieving quite a lot of following lately—closing a big deal with the government and BEA OEM-ing the Systinet registry,” said Ronald Schmelzer, an analyst with ZapThink LLC, of Waltham, Mass.

Schmelzer is referring to Systinets $1.5 million deal to supply the Defense Information Systems Agency with core enterprise service technology based on Systinets UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration) registry. And BEA Systems Inc. recently announced it will resell the Systinet registry as part of its new AquaLogic product line.

Meanwhile, SOA Software Inc., of Santa Monica, Calif., Tuesday announced Version 3.0 of the SOA Software Service Manager, the companys Web services management, security and governance product that SOA Software has demonstrated can scale to more than 15 million messages per minute in a simulated customer deployment, the company said.

Service Manager 3.0 features registry-based dashboard functionality, service endpoint discovery, auto-management, real-time charting and a JSR (Java Specification Request) 168 portal framework for the user interface, SOA Software officials said.

Last week, Sun Microsystems Inc. announced the availability of the Sun Service Registry, which supports both UDDI Version 3 and ebXML Registry 3.0.
