Zeus Trojan kit – $3,000. SpyEye Trojan kit – $1,000. Bulletproof hosting – priceless, well not really.
According to researchers with EMC’s RSA security division, bulletproof hosting goes for between $87 to $179 per month depending on the service level and up to $400 per month for certain infrastructures. That was just one of several factoids the researchers uncovered during an investigation of the black market for hackers and cyber-thieves.
In their “window shopping”, the team put a price tag on everything from distributed denial of service attacks ($50 per 24 hours of Website flooding) to online bank accounts that sold for between ($50 to $1,000).
“A cybercriminal can procure credit card data for as little as the price of a latté,” according to the RSA blog. “What may seem marginal enough at first sight may carry the potential for heavy losses to consumers, the banks and credit card associations involved.”
