Torrance, Calif.-based Active Storage, which specializes in storage for Apple systems, has come out with a new version of its iPhone app that monitors their Apple Xserve-optimized RAID arrays.
Active Viewer 1.1 enables storage managers to monitor their high-performance Active Storage RAID systems worldwide directly from their iPhones. [Please note: It doesn’t monitor other brands of storage systems — just Active Storage.]
Active Storage said that the app monitors power, cooling, Fibre Channel connectivity and system temperatures and offers detailed system information, such as uptime, rack location and network address.
It also enables managers to drill down to individual RAID controller info [firmware level, utilization, even cache memory battery backup health]; gives RAID array information, like number of arrays and status; and reveals drive information, such as number of individual drives and their health.
Active Viewer 1.1 features a revised application launch sequence; an easier-to-access information screen with integrated contact Information; support contact options, accessed directly from within component warning screens; and the ability to call, email or contact the company’s Support Forum in the event of a component failure.
