Storage Station

A bird's eye view of the data storage industry.

Your Take Is Wanted on Dedupe Acquisitions

EMC swallows Avamar in November 2006. IBM acquires Diligent a few weeks ago.

More of this is bound to happen, believe me. Deduplication, virtualization layers and e-discovery/compliance software comprise the three hottest buying trends in data storage right now. They are all must-have additions to older systems, and some of them are being built right in to newer ones.

eWEEK just posted a slide show with this headline: "Ten Storage Deduplication Companies That Might Be Acquired." You can find it here.

The Station would be way curious as to your take on this. Are we totally on track, off base, or what? Are these 10 legitimately ripe for being swallowed? Which companies did we leave out (for there are a high number more)?

Don't be shy, now. Check in below.
