Google has just unveiled a new version of its Google Search app for Apple iOS devices, featuring a raft of new capabilities that provide instant information, helpful reminders and more.
The updated app, now in Version 4, is available to users immediately through the Apple iTunes store for iPhones and iPads.
Among the key updates for users are the ability to ask questions by speaking into their devices and getting information from Google, as well as automatic as-you-need-it information through Google Now cards.
That means that users can receive information that they need throughout their day on such topics as weather, traffic, sports and more, straight to their devices.
Other updates include cards for the sport of cricket in Google Now, faster loading of Google Search and Google Now, and improved and more beautiful results when users seek images online, according to Google.
The free app is available in a wide assortment of languages for users, including English, Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
Google last updated its Google Search app for iOS back in November 2013, when it gave users the ability to issue reminders and notifications about important events or appointments. The new features also included just-in-time details for travel itineraries, such as boarding passes that appeared on devices just when they were needed. Users could also access upcoming movie tickets as needed in the previous version.
Google made great strides with its voice search capabilities for iOS users by introducing big updates and improvements in August 2012 after launching similar services for Android users.
In September 2013, Google also improved its voice search capabilities for users of its Chrome for iOS Web browser. The latest Chrome for iOS browser also included deeper integration with Google Apps.
