Virtualization management software maker Embotics Jan. 12 announced that it has added new features to its V-Commander product suite, which is now designed specifically for managing private cloud infrastructures alongside VMware vSphere.
Thus, Embotics’ management software now has the ability to automate and thus more efficiently bring “rogue” virtual machines under control that don’t comply with policy guidelines. This happens more frequently than many IT managers realize.
V-Commander 3.7 uses the Ottawa-based company’s real-time, policy-driven architecture to control virtual machine deployments of all kinds, to identify bottlenecks, to manage capacity and to optimize configurations, Jason Cowie, Embotics’ vice president of product management, told eWEEK.
The new V-Commander offers automated remediation of noncompliant VMs, driven by flexible user-defined business policies; framework integration with vSphere, VMware’s infrastructure client (including a VIC plug-in, integrated alerting and V-Commander Launch in context); customizable Self-Service VM request forms; and enhanced capacity and performance management capabilities that include new bottleneck and rightsizing reports.
“This also installs in only about a half hour,” Cowie told eWEEK. “It is also available as either an onsite or hosted package.”
V-Commander 3.7 is available now. Pricing starts at $299 per host CPU socket, Cowie said.
